Prostatitis and Homeoapthy

            Prostatitis 



Prostatitis is often described as an infection of the Prostate. It can also be an inflammation with no sign of infection. Just 5% to 10 % of cases are caused by bacterial infection. Now a days its very common. 


Prostatitis can effect men in all ages. In fact, chronic Prostatitis  is the number one reason men under age 50 visit urologist.
The primary symptom of chronic infection Prostatitis is usually repeated bladder infections.




TYPES OF PROSTATITIS
Acute bacterial Prostatitis
Chronic bacterial Prostatitis

Chronic nonbacterial Prostatitis

Acute bacterial Prostatitis :
 a sudden bacterial infection marked by inflammation of the prostate. This is the least common form of Prostatitis, but the symptoms are usually severe. Patients with this condition have an acute urinary tract infection with increased urinary frequency and urgency, a need to urinate a lot at night, and pain in the pelvis and genital area. They often have fever, chills, nausea, vomiting and burning when urinating.

Chronic bacterial Prostatitis
This condition is the result of recurrent urinary tract infections that have entered the prostate  gland. It is thought to exist for several years. In some cases before producing symptoms. 
The symptoms are similar to acute bacterial Prostatitis, but less sever and can fluctuate in intensity.
Chronic non bacterial Prostatitis/ chronic pelvic pain syndrome
This is the most common form of the disease, accounting for 90% of the cases. The condition is marked by urinary and genital pain for at least three to six months. Patients have no bacteria in their urine, but may have other signs of inflammation.  
CAUSES OF THE PROSTATITIS
How the prostate become infected is not clear. The bacteria that cause Prostatitis may got into the prostate from the urethra by backward flow of infected urine or stool from the rectum.
At one time, Prostatitis was believed to be sexually transmitted disease, but more recent research suggests that only a small number of cases are passed on through sex.
Higher risk for getting Prostatitis :
Recently have had a medical instrument, such as a urinary catheter inserted during a medical procedure. 
                •Engage in rectal intercourse
                •Have had a recent bladder infection
                 •Have an enlarged prostate
                 •Other causes may include autoimmune disease(an abnormal reaction of the body to the             prostate tissue)

SYMPTOMS OF PROSTATITIS:

You may have no symptoms of Prostatitis or symptoms so sudden and severe that you seek emergency medical care.
When present, symptoms include
Frequent urge to urinate
Difficulty urinating
Pain or burning during urination
Chills and fever
Other symptoms may include pain that comes and goes in lower abdomen, around anus, in the groin or un the back. In some cases bacteria can get into vas deferens causing groin pain or an infection of the epididymis.

Digital rectal examination



Prostate fluid analysis for signs of infection
Transrectal ultrasound

Biopsy or voiding studies( to evaluate the types and extent of urinary incontinence.
Homeopathy for Prostatitis
  Sabal serrulata
       Is used as a homeopathic remedy for prostate cancer, but in cases of Prostatitis it can help patients with difficult urination or burning urination.
  Pulsatilla:
        Is used for pain in the prostate after urination and sharp pains or spasm in the prostate area that extend into the bladder and pelvis. A thick bland discharge from the penis may be present. 
   Kali- bichromium
Is good for prostate pain that is aggravated by walking or if pain relives stand still. Symptoms include needle like pain or drawing pains extending from the prostate  into the penis, burning in the urethra after urination, or discharge of very thick, sticky, or stringy material from the penis.
Causticum
May be a good choice if you experience pressure and pulsation in the prostate with pain extending into the urethra and bladder after passing a few drops of urine.
Lycopodium
Is indicated for pressure in the prostate that is aggravated during and after urination as well as for needle like pains in the bladder and anus.
Thuja
Is said to help with enlarged prostate.
